Benefits
-
Whether you are caring for a parent, grandparent or another important senior in your life, the time necessary to focus on their needs and concerns is often scarce. Personal responsibilities and commitments compete for your precious time. Being able to rely on concierge support to handle your non-medical, administrative priorities can enable you to devote more time to the direct care of your loved one.
“It is not how much you do, but how much love you put into the doing.”
~ Mother Theresa -
Regain control of your time. Shorten your to do list. Use the recaptured time to rest. Being a caregiver can mean managing two households or two task lists or two generations. Additionally, work schedules are impacted, other family member needs may be neglected and hobbies or vacations are sacrificed. Help is available for you - the caregiver - with your personal to-do's or with non-medical tasks related to your loved one's care.
“You can accomplish anything, but you can’t do everything.”
~ David Allen -
Your efforts as a caregiver can serve as inspiration and education for those yet to be caregivers. There is no orientation or handbook for this role. It's on-the-job training only, unless you learned from watching another devoted person caring for a senior. By setting boundaries and asking for help when you need it, you are imprinting on others (your children, spouse, siblings, friends, neighbors and more) the intelligence of an experienced and insightful caregiver.
“There are four kinds of people in the world - those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers.”
~ Rosalynn Carter
